Penn Wimochana Gnanodayam (The Dawn of Wisdom Comes With Women's Liberation)
PWG was founded in 1976 and has, since then, run a series of programmes among female tea plantation workers in the hill country (Nuwara Eliya - Maskeliya Electorate) of Sri Lanka.
Vision: A just society in which women can live with freedom and experience justice dignity and gender equallity
We work with:
- tea plantation women
- the tea plantation community
- pre-school children
- school-students
- unemplyed young women
- university students
- the elderly
Mission: Empower the tea plantation women by mobilising them to live with self-respect and act independently.
